The Gironde estuary

Our campsite in the heart of nature in Charente-Maritime is ideally positioned so that you can discover all the essentials. Below, we present some of our tips for activities and visits. To find out more, we give you an appointment at the reception.

Our campsite is located at the gates of the Gironde estuary. The largest estuary in Europe is more than 600 km², with diversified and protected fauna and flora. To best appreciate this natural space, embark on a cruise on the estuary, departing from Vitrezay. During a trip on the water, from one to three hours, you will get breathtaking panoramas.

Activities for all tastes

The surroundings of the Gironde estuary are renowned for their cycle paths. Pedal between Mortagne-sur-Gironde and the Pôle Nature de Vitrezay, you will find picturesque fishing ports, exceptional viewpoints, wine estates and many others.

From our campsite in Charente-Maritime, learn to sail at the Port Maubert sailing school or at the ULM with a first flight at "Air Estuaire" in Prignac-et-Marcamps, but also at ballooning and planes thanks to the "Flotte Jonzacaise" at the Jonzac-Neulles aerodrome.

You can also opt for a quad ride or a life-size escape game at Château de la Place in Saint-Fort-sur-Gironde.

Protected natural areas

In less than an hour, you will be in preserved natural sites. Meet at the Pôle Nature de Vitrezay with marshes and protected species, but also at the Moulin du Sap, a natural leisure park. Do not miss the Caves of Matata and Regulus, with remarkable viewpoints. Discover the Maison de la Forêt in Montlieu , a 20-hectare natural site, and the Guizengeard quarries.

Unmissable visits

With friends, as a couple, with family or alone, visit these places that make the region famous. We recommend the Château de Beaulon with its walks, its listed castle and its blue fountains. Visit the Citadel of Blaye , listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. End with the Zoo de la Palmyre, an exceptional space dedicated to the protection of animals.

Bordeaux and its vineyards

The Capital of Wine welcomes you for cultural and historical visits. We invite you to discover its culinary specialties, the Cité du Vin, the Place de la Bourse with the water mirror, etc. Near Bordeaux, take one of the many wine routes to discover prestigious appellations: Margaux, Saint-Emilion, Sauternes, etc.

Jonzac, its Girondin baths and its leisure center

In thirty minutes, you will be in Jonzac. This pleasant town has been known since 1862 as a spa resort. You will also appreciate its cinema, its casino, its cultural center and its leisure base. On the latter, you can practice: jogging or walking on the surrounding paths, water sports or lazing on the beaches, but also climbing, trampolining and tree climbing.

Villages full of character

On the banks of the Gironde estuary, start with a visit to Meschers : fine sandy beaches, troglodyte caves and limestone cliffs. Continue with Talmont-sur-Gironde , a typical Charentais village, classified among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France". Finish with Mortagne-sur-Gironde , a village of stones and water, between ports, marshes, panoramas and hills.

La Rochelle

In one hour and thirty minutes, you will be in the city center of La Rochelle. Set off for a day of sightseeing in this superb town. We invite you to discover all its monuments, activities and cultural sites: the fishing port, the commercial port, the marina and the famous aquarium with its more than 12,000 animals.

The island of Oléron

Head to the island of Oléron for an exceptional outing. Do not miss its dunes, cliffs, forests, vineyards, multicolored huts, oyster ports, golden beaches, etc. We advise you to drop by the Phare de Chassiron and observe the famous Fort Boyard from the coast of the island of Oléron.
