Gironde vines, land of Bordeaux Wines
With 120,000 hectares of vines, 60 Controlled Designations of Origin (Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée) and 8,000 wine-growers, the Gironde region is the oldest fine wine vineyard in the world, and offers the highest number of Controlled Designations of Origin in France. For 2,000 years already, the history of Gironde has indeed been closely linked to that of its vineyards. The first vines were planted in the Graves region in the 1st century A.D., and the results are clear for all to see today.
Margaux, Saint-Estèphe, Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Loupiac, Sauternes… The area has many prestigious, world-famous appellations and is also remarkable for its great variety of vineyards. The “Vignobles et Chais en Bordelais” label and the “Bacchus” accommodation label ensure visitors receive a quality welcome at nearly 500 estates, cellars and wine houses in Gironde.
During your stay at the Camping de l'Estuaire ****, make the most of the opportunity to discover the region’s wines!
