La Rochelle, dive into the world of the sea
An ancient city with a rich historical and urban heritage, La Rochelle is the most populous city in the department of Charente Maritime.
Indeed, the city is fortunate to have a hot summer climate and mild winters, making it one of the pleasantest cities by the Atlantic Ocean.
La Rochelle is primarily a major harbor complex, and has been so since the 12th century, due to the presence of its three harbors (fishing, commercial and recreational).
Besides its charm and climate, the town derives its reputation from its famous aquarium, one of Europe's largest private aquariums.
On an area of 8,445 m2, it displays more than 12,000 animals of 600 different species, spread across 75 different aquariums. Each year it welcomes more than 800,000 visitors, making it the most visited aquarium in France.
Located approximately 1h30 from the Camping de l'Estuaire ****, don’t miss the chance to see all the unusual sights in the historical capital of Aunis!
